Through an immersive experience of Black history using music and mixed-media arts, the lives and iconic contributions of four Black abolitionists are presented. Ignatius Sancho (1729–80), Joseph Bologne (1745–99), Solomon Northrup (1807/8–64), and Frederick Douglass (1818–95), brought together using a theatrical construct, discuss their lives as Black creatives who fought with the pen, the ballot, the sword, and the bullet to directly affect laws and the dominant thought of their day. The historical figures interact with an actor from the present time to highlight the similarities and differences between then and now.
