This is a free event. Please register in advance: https://charlestonmoves.networkforgood.com/events/69920-union-pier-mobility-nexus-through-the-centuries______________________________________________________________________
The site known as Union Pier has been a transportation crossroads for centuries past and potentially well into the future. Join Nic Butler, historian at the Charleston County Public Library, for an illustrated review of historic pathways to, from, and through the waterfront site.
This is a custom event created by Dr. Butler, specifically for Charleston Moves' Mobility Month 2024 program. Donations will contribute to our speaker's stipend and benefit our advocacy. For several years, we have pushed for the redevelopment of Union Pier to include world-class infrastructure for people walking, biking and rolling, connecting to not only quality bus stops and bike share stations, but also the Ashley River Bicycle & Pedestrian Bridge, a future ferry dock, Lowcountry Rapid Transit, East Coast Greenway, and People Pedal Plan.
Thank you to Bike Law for sponsoring this year's Mobility Month program, and to Austen & Gowder, LLC and Dover, Kohl & Partners Town Planning for sponsoring this event!
Mobility Month is an annual Charleston Moves program. Visit CharlestonMoves.org/Mobility-Month for the line-up of events and ways to support!
