Union City & Newark CERT: Fire Extinguisher training

Union City & Newark CERTs (Community Emergency Response Team) are hosting a training session on Wednesday, January 14, 2026 at 7:30 PM. This hands-on training will cover fire extinguisher usage.

This fire extinguisher training will teach you how to identify potential fire hazards in your home and select the right type of fire extinguisher. You'll learn:

• Know what kind of fire it is (understanding fire classification)
• Get the right type of fire extinguisher for the fire
• How to maintain your fire extinguisher
• Learn the PASS method for using a fire extinguisher (Pull, Aim, Squeeze, Sweep)
• When to stop fighting the fire and evacuate the fire scene.

Please plan to attend in person as we will not have a zoom option this month.
