Unicorn Ceilidhs are hosting a special fundraising event at St Mary’s Church Hall, Baldock on Friday 9th January. Featuring the popular band 3Sticks and caller Barry Goodman, the ceilidh will raise funds for the refurbishment of the hall, which was recently damaged by vandalism. This joint venture between Unicorn Ceilidhs and St Mary’s Church will have all the usual trimmings – bar, raffle, great music and dancing and a terrific atmosphere!
3sticks are highly regarded favourites on the UK Ceilidh and festival circuit. The band is a three piece - Jenny Newman on fiddle, Andy Glass on guitar and bass pedals and Pete Hemsley on percussion. 3Sticks play a wide range of music from the British Isles and Europe with tons of energy and drive - all guaranteed to make you want to dance!
Barry Goodman is a well-known caller who has worked with many of the finest ceilidh bands in the country. He likes to make dancers feel relaxed and confident and his clear but laid-back style of teaching the dances has made him a popular choice at folk festivals and ceilidhs nationwide.
Interval entertainment will be from Sutton Masque Border Morris - another Unicorn favourite! Hailing from The Cambridgeshire Fens, they are a community-based inclusive Morris side with a wide range of entertaining and skilfully-performed dances.
The evening starts at 8:00 p.m. (doors open at 7:30), and finishes at 11.00 p.m. Adults - £13, concessions and children’s tickets available (see website for details). Parking is easy in the town centre, just walk to the church and you’ll find the hall in the church grounds.
