Unicorn Ceilidhs are proud to present The Hosepipe Band with Andy Rouse at their next ceilidh on Friday 13th February at St Mary’s Church Hall, Baldock. The Hosepipe Band played for their first dance in May 1993. Since then they have played well over five hundred times for public dances and for private celebrations – around the UK but also one or two in France and Italy.
Their dance repertoire combines traditional music from the British Isles and other European countries together with their own compositions - expect bagpipes, hurdy gurdy, melodeon and bells to feature in their line-up as well as concertina, mandola, saxophone, bells and hammered dulcimer.
Calling the dances will be Unicorn favourite Andy Rouse, who will guide the dancers through the moves with his usual good humour and clear instructions.
Whitchurch Morris, from the Vale of Aylesbury, will provide the interval entertainment. One of the longest-serving Morris sides in the area, their dancing and music is a joy to behold!
Held at St Mary’s Church Hall, Church Street, Baldock SG7 5AE, the evening starts at 8:00 p.m. (doors open at 7:30), and finishes at 11.00 p.m. Adults - £13, concessions and children’s tickets available (see website for details). There’s a real ale, cider, wine and soft drinks bar and a raffle at the half-time break; parking is easy in the town centre, just walk to the church and you’ll find the hall in the church grounds.
