Unforeseen

Throughout this year, students in Years 8 to 12 have been creating works in Art, Design and Media using a range of subjects as inspiration. By analysing the works from historical and contemporary artists, film makers and designers, they have shown their creativity when applying practitioner’s techniques within their own artistic vision. They have attended workshops, exhibitions or had guest presenters, to guide them in the creation of their works, developing a range of new techniques and adding to the quality of the work they present.

Senior students have also produced pieces from workshops they have attended in collaboration with the Art Gallery of SA. Mediums including painting, mixed media, sculpture, digital media, design, and multi-modal works, have been created. While working under the theme of Unforeseen to help guide their personal visual aesthetic, they have created a variety of works that are unique, moving and demonstrate their skills as budding artists or designers.

Students have created works exploring their own personal identity, relationships, or links to the environment. As we move through a world which is unpredictable, the chosen theme was fitting. Adolescents are at a stage where they are becoming more self aware and forming their own identity, so this is an ideal time to be inspired and allow their imaginations to run wild.

At NMHS students develop a passion for the arts and are encouraged to develop their creativity and critical thinking. This exhibition provides students with an opportunity to develop their creativity in tangible ways and form connections with the community, allowing students to flourish as they enter a world of great change.
