A reading with Colin Robinson's poetry
About this Event

In the context of , and in memory of Colin Robinson (1961–2021), the Trinidadian American poet, critic, and unsung hero of social and sexual liberation movements in New York, the Caribbean, and throughout the world, join the Leslie-Lohman Museum of Art for a relaxed gathering and poetry-reading.

Several poets who were friends of Colin's, Rosamond S. King, Anton Nimblett, Sur Rodney (Sur), Cheryl Boyce-Taylor, and R. Erica Doyle, read from their own work while engaging Colin's words and legacy. Together, we share bites, drinks, and reflections on Colin Robinson’s oeuvre in the gallery.

The Plural of He, curated by Andil Gosine, is on view at the Museum through July 21, 2024.

This program is part of the Continuum: Uniting Queer Artists Across Time series, a partnership program between The American LGBTQ+ Museum and the Leslie Lohman Museum of Art that serves as a dynamic bridge, connecting the impactful works of historical LGBTQ+ artists and creators with the vibrant expressions of contemporary LGBTQ+ artists. Through curated exhibitions, talks, panels, performances, and more, Continuum invites you to witness the threads of connection that weave our past and present together through art and creativity.

Accessibility

Refreshments will be offered. Located at 26 Wooster Street, the Leslie-Lohman Museum of Art strives to provide a welcoming environment to all visitors. Five external steps lead to our entrance doors: a wheelchair lift is available. All galleries are wheelchair-accessible, and a single-occupancy accessible restroom is located behind the visitor services desk: all restrooms are gender-neutral. Large print didactics are available. Staff will work with individuals and groups who disclose accessibility needs in advance to accommodate them to the best of our ability.
