Dhaka University Debating Society (DUDS) in collaboration with UNDP Bangladesh presents “Youth Against Corruption: Inter-University Anti-Corruption Debate Competition 2024.”Corruption is a challenge that impacts every aspect of society, and it’s time for the youth to take the lead in driving change. With this in mind, this event aims to bring together students from 24 public and private universities within the Dhaka Division, providing them a platform to debate, deliberate, and propose innovative solutions to combat corruption. Through structured debates, interactive workshops, and panel discussions, participants will explore the root causes of corruption, the importance of transparency, and actionable strategies for fostering accountability and good governance.
Key Segments of the Programme:
Debate Competition:
Teams from 24 universities will debate issues related to anti-corruption, transparency, and governance, showcasing their critical thinking and problem-solving abilities. Approximately 200 students will be directly involved.
Interactive Workshops:
Led by UNDP specialists and academic experts, the workshops will focus on:
Root causes of corruption and strategies for eradication.
Youth’s role in creating a transparent and accountable society.
Adapting global good practices to the local context.
Participants will engage in brainstorming activities, analyze case studies, and develop practical solutions.
Panel Discussions:
Speakers from academia, governance, and civil society will discuss the socio-economic impacts of corruption, policy interventions, and pathways for a corruption-free future.
Policy Recommendations:
Insights from the debates and workshops will be compiled into a report with actionable recommendations, which will be shared with policymakers and stakeholders.
