The City of Ames is inviting residents to an “Understanding Your Utility Bill” event on Tuesday, Feb. 17, from 4 to 6 p.m. at City Hall, 515 Clark Ave., in the first-floor lobby. The open-house style event will help customers learn how to read their statements, understand where their money goes, and identify opportunities to reduce monthly costs.In addition to bill navigation and cost savings, City staff will be on hand to share information about new utility programs. Attendees can learn about no-cost home weatherization, time-of-use rates, and curbside recycling.
Attendees will have the opportunity to enter a drawing for a free smart thermostat. These devices are a great tool for managing home energy use and lowering monthly utility bills.
