This session will provide a clear overview of the different types of EDS and their associated genes, the role of genetics in diagnosis, and the latest emerging research on hEDS.
Emily will also guide participants through how to access reputable genetic testing, interpret possible testing results, and understand ethical considerations such as eugenics and protections against genetic discrimination. The class will conclude with a brief, evidence-based overview of MTHFR and hereditary alpha tryptasemia (HαT)—what we do and don’t yet know.
Whether you’re a patient, provider, or caregiver, this session will equip you with a deeper understanding of how genetics shapes the EDS journey—and what that means for the future of care and research.
