Speech and Language therapy is vital for so many children. But understanding what it is, how it benefits our children and how to get funded provision is so difficult!

Libby Hill is a multi-award-winning independent speech and language therapist and published author, specialising in neurodivergence, PDA, Selective Mutism, DLD and much more. Libby who is world famous for her work, sitting on several professional panels and being at the forefront of research.
She is well versed with the law and has achieved tremendous outcomes for families all over the UK over several decades. She is not afraid of underhand tactics by local authorities, and understands is passionate about children having access to the provision they need.
Libby will teach us about the following...
- What is Speech and Language therapy, and why might children need it
- Understanding assessments; what to expect, why they're needed, what they mean
- Understanding reports and terminology
- How this fits within IDPs and how we achieve funded provision, the importance of use of specified and quanitified provision in reports
We will also have a Q&A session at the end where Libby will answer your questions, along with our ALN Advocate.
The workshop is ticketed, you must have a ticket in order to attend. Advance booking is required.
Refreshments and snacks will be available. Accessible parking is available on site. Standard parking is available on the road outside Cynon Linc for 2 hours or you can park at Aberdare Library (please adhere to ticketing rules within the carpark).

Libby qualified as a speech and language therapist from the prestigious University College, London in 1986. She remains as passionate about what she does now as she was then, which most definitely comes across in her work.
Her practical, pragmatic approach works well with all children.
She is a member of the Royal College of Speech and language therapists and ASLTIP and is registered with the Health Professions Council. She also has an enhanced CRB/DBS check.
Libby set up Small Talk Speech and language therapy in 2007 which has grown to include speech and language therapists, SLT assistants, early years practitioners and counsellors with access to Clinical Psychology and Educational Psychology.
She set up Smart Talkers Pre-School communication groups in 2009 which are franchised in the UK and abroad. In 2011 she created S & L World, the global bulletin for Speech and language professionals which she continues to edit.
Her latest projects include a website to provide speech therapy materials and being consultant speech and language therapist to Channel 4s ‘Born naughty?’.
Rachel is a highly experienced advocate for families, specialising in ALN and SEN. her tenacious approach sees her achieve tremendous outcomes for families who live with ALN/SEN within education, health and care.
Rachel is very well versed within tribunals, social care matters and DLA/PIP applications, too.
