Understanding Personality Disorders: Diagnosis, Treatment, and Application

Learning Objectives:Participants will:

• Describe the DSM-5 diagnostic criteria for personality disorders and differentiate between categorical and dimensional models.
• Identify the core features and clinical presentations of Cluster A, B, and C personality disorders.
• Recognize common countertransference patterns and apply techniques to maintain professional boundaries.
• Increase clinical confidence in diagnosing and treating personality disorders through real-world examples and contemporary cultural references.
• Understand aetiology, diagnostic criteria, classification, psychopathology, clinical presentation/assessment, and interventions (pharmacological, psychological, and social).
• Identify behaviors associated with personality disorders and distinguish between different symptoms.
• Explore effective methods of assessment and evidence-based interventions for personality disorders, incorporating them into therapeutic practice.
