About this Event

This 3-hour course equips you with the skills to confidently read and interpret your organization's financial statements. You'll learn about key financial reports that every nonprofit should be using and gas insights into best practices for fund allocation and how this knowledge can help you better showcase the impact of your programs. Key outcomes include reading and interpreting key financial statements, using simple metrics to gauge your organization's health, and making informed decisions to support your mission and communicate effectively with stakeholders. This course is perfect for those new to nonprofit finance or seeking to enhance their knowledge, offering the essential tools to optimize your financial management and elevate your nonprofit's success.

What To Expect

  • All participants will receive a follow-along workbook to take notes, follow instruction and complete exercises during the session.
  • Participants will also get a free toolkit – a collection of templates, forms, worksheets, software and other helpful resources to help make good use of the information shared in class.
  • There will be time for Q&A with the instructor and we will take breaks to give you a chance to check email, grab a water or network with other participants.

This workshop is eligible for the City of Austin Small Business Skills Certificate program. Participants who complete six courses in the program are recognized in an awards ceremony with other local business and community leaders.
