About the event:
The devastating impacts of Long COVID demand both urgent attention and collaborative solutions. New data reveal a stark regional divide, with some areas of the North seeing prevalence rates as high as 20% - double the national average. This chronic condition has disrupted the lives of 1.9 million people across England, with 79% reporting negative effects on daily activities. Yet there is a glaring lack of employer support, as only 3 out of 10 northern companies offer rehabilitation specific to Long COVID - despite the high regional prevalence. While acute COVID cases receive some accommodation, the lingering post-viral ailments are often overlooked.
This roundtable convenes key stakeholders to confront the systemic inequities exacerbating the toll of Long COVID. Academic experts, policymakers and community advocates will explore tailored regional interventions - from healthcare access to workplace protections - aimed at mitigating Long COVID's physical, emotional and economic burden on underserved populations. Collective action is crucial to building a comprehensive care framework for the millions grappling with this pernicious illness.
