Questions around your child's DIBELS mClass screener or assessment? Wondering when it is time for a formal learning evaluation?Families receive a wide range of assessment reports over the course of their child’s education, but understanding what those reports mean, when to ask questions, and what steps to take next can feel overwhelming. This HillTopics presentation is designed to help parents make sense of the assessment process, from early screening through more comprehensive evaluations.
Jill Michaud, Head of Hillside School & Center for Dyslexia, will begin with an overview of DIBELS mCLASS, the universal screening and progress monitoring tool used in elementary schools across BVSD and SVVSD. Parents will learn how to read the reports they receive, what the scores indicate, when concerns may arise, and what questions are helpful to ask.
Lisa Costello, a school and clinical psychologist and Director of the Zarlengo Foundation Learning Evaluation Center, will discuss the different types of evaluations families may consider to better understand their child’s unique learning profile, with a special focus on psychoeducational evaluations and how they can support your child’s learning and growth.
Together, this presentation will break down the assessment process in a clear, practical way, empowering parents to better understand the information they receive and make informed decisions about support for their child.
