PLEASE NOTE - This training is only for Sheffield City Council Foster Carers.

This training explores the complex and evolving concept of identity and how it relates to children in foster care. Fostered children often experience a sense of disconnection or confusion about who they are, where they come from, and where they belong.

Through this session, we’ll look at:

What identity means and why it matters in foster care
The impact of trauma, separation, and care experience on identity development
How foster carers can support children to understand, express, and feel confident in their identity
Practical tools and approaches to help children stay connected to their heritage, culture, and personal story

This training will offer insight, reflection, and guidance to support children in building a strong and positive sense of self.
