About this Event
While initial registration is free, the training costs £65 per delegate (and £30 for a further delegate from the same school/parish). You will be invoiced after the event.
This course is for all schools who have had a change in leadership in RE since their initial training for UC and would like to gain confidence about how to effectively use this resource to ensure the thorough teaching of Christianity. Or for those schools who just want to have the reassurance of a recap as under lockdown their delivery has been disrupted.
This course aims to clarify the structure, pedagogy and expectations of using Understanding Christianity in your school. Recent research has shown that, when taught using its pedagogy, Understanding Christianity can really improve and build confidence amongst staff and pupils.
The course will:
- Recap the key concepts underpinning Understanding Christianity
- Develop subject knowledge of teaching Christianity
- Recap the pedagogy of text, impact, connections and show real life examples of how it works in the classroom
- Clarify how it can be integrated into the curriculum
- Offer advice on planning from the units in a manageable way
- Show how it might be utilised to look at worldviews and diversity in Christianity.
