About this Event
Understanding and Responding to Child Sexual Behaviour is a free two-day workshop for Teachers, Case Workers, Child Safety Workers, Therapists, Residential Workers, Youth Workers, Youth Justice Officers, Carers, and anyone else who works with children or young people who have harmful sexual behaviours. It is also helpful for those wanting to improve their understanding of the impact of sexual abuse on children.
Many may know the previous iteration of this program which was called “Murky Waters”. This new workshop takes the most relevant information from Murky Waters but refocuses away from theoretical models and towards practical management of and work with children who display problematic sexualised behaviours. While Murky Waters was originally intended to train specialist clinicians this training is targeted at a broader scope of attendee.
This training program focus on providing information about:
Types of Sexual behaviours
The prevalence in the community
The Impact of sexual abuse on children’s development
Placing behaviours in context
Strategies to intervene in the behaviour
Safety planning
Managing disclosures
And taking care of the treating team.
To encourage commitment for this free training after registering you will be sent a pre-survey and a declaration of attendance. This will be sent out when the event sells out and will need to be signed and returned within one week to confirm your ticket. If this is not returned the ticket will be reallocated to the waitlist. Please ensure you are contactable and checking your supplied email address as this will be the primary means of communication for this training.

Please note this iteration of the workshop (Two Day) has not been endorsed by the Evolve State-wide approval process though oversight has occurred to ensure consistency with other packages.
