Sheldon Boles is the Director of Competitions for the Canadian Association for Photographic Art (CAPA), a role he’s held for 9 years. With a 40-year background in IT and a Computer Systems diploma from BCIT, he brings deep expertise in programming, project leadership, and AI.
Sheldon began working in AI over 30 years ago, authoring his first paper on AI and law enforcement in 1992. Today, he's a recognized voice on the impact of AI in photography, having published 8 major articles—including internationally featured works like “Content Authentication – Photograph vs Generative AI Image” and “CAPA’s Stance on AI-Generated Images.” His CAPA AI Policy Framework is shaping global standards in competitive photography.
A member of the Coalition for Content Provenance and Authenticity (C2PA), Sheldon remains at the forefront of AI and image authentication. He’s shared his insights with audiences in Australia, New Zealand, South Africa, and Mongolia.
