Underground Springhouse + Big Shrimp + Jacoozy team up for a triple threat bill at Flat Iron in Greensboro, NC on December 12th, 2024!“More of the good, less of the bad.” That’s the motto upon which Underground Springhouse have built their sound and style. Exploring reggae, country, and funk influences within a rock ‘n roll context, Springhouse has crafted a genre-bending catalog that takes listeners from beaches to back roads with ear-worm hooks and head-bobbing grooves.
Their debut single, “Joyfell” (2018), has caught the ears of listeners around the country, galvanizing the band to become the touring and recording machine that they are today. Springhouse has since released a full length album, “Underground Springhouse” (2021), and two EPs, “Tom Foolery” (2019) and “I Recall” (2023), as well as a number of one-off singles. Their most recent EP, “I Recall,” features five new songs and showcases the band’s honing of their songwriting craft. On certain tracks the group explores newer influences like bluegrass and Americana, while on others they expand on more familiar styles like reggae and funk. All the while, the band stays true to their motto and their sound by including sing-along choruses and dance-worthy rhythms across the EP.
The band’s consistent recording output and dedicated touring schedule have helped grow their audience from a college town phenomenon into a frenetic mass of music lovers, particularly in the Southeast and along the East Coast, where Springhouse has headlined such venues as Athens’ Georgia Theatre, Nashville’s Exit/In, Birmingham’s Avondale Brewing, New York’s Brooklyn Bowl, D.C.’s Pearl Street Warehouse, Asheville’s Salvage Station, and Atlanta’s Terminal West. Fans should expect the unexpected at a Springhouse concert as no two shows look the same. The band’s fondness for improvisation and segues, and use of mashups and surprise covers make each show a unique experience, and keep fans coming back night after night.
Members Charlie Haas (guitar/vocals), Jackson Thompson (bass/vocals), Max Motley (keyboard/vocals) & Mitch Davidson (guitar/vocals) met in Athens, Georgia while students at the University of Georgia. The band’s lineup solidified with the addition of Jonny Thompson (drums/vocals) in June of 2023. Underground Springhouse is a product of Athens’ renowned music scene, slowly evolving as the group grew from a dorm room project into the polished outfit they are today.

Big Shrimp, formerly known as Baked Shrimp, is reborn with a new lineup and an invigorated sound, ready to take the music world by storm. The versatile quartet is home to Bridgeport, CT, and features established members Jared Sage Cowen (Guitar/Vocals) and Jager Soss (Drums/Vocals), along with new additions Max Perrotti (Bass/Vocals) and Matt Takesh (Keyboard/Vocals). Their transformation from a power trio to a quartet has expanded their musical horizons, blending risk-taking progressive fusion rock with fresh, polished, innovative elements.
Since their original formation in 2017, the band's high-octane energy, unique songwriting, and improvisational prowess have secured them a prominent spot in the festival circuit. Known as the hardest-working band in the business, they performed over 215 concerts between 2022 and 2023. Last summer, they made their debut at prestigious festivals like Peach Music Festival, Summer Camp Music Festival, Northlands Live, and Mile of Music. In addition to these festival appearances, they had the honor of supporting acts such as Phil Lesh of the Grateful Dead, The Disco Biscuits, Dopapod, Twiddle, and Andy Frasco & The U.N.
Despite their relentless touring schedule, the band consistently released new music, including their latest fifth album, "Baked Shrimp." This album featured songs like "Chop Suey" and "Can't Cut the Mustard," which earned an honorable spot on the Spotify editorial playlist "Modern Jam Band."
Big Shrimp is set to bring the show on the road with brand new music and a focus on recording a new album. Their official launch will also see the revival of their beloved festival, LonCon, scheduled for September 20th-21st at Wonderland Forest in LaFayette, NY. This festival, a homage to their devoted supporter and ambassador Lon “Conscious” Gellman, remains a vibrant celebration of live music and art, complete with two nights of camping.
Big Shrimp is poised to bring their expanded sound and renewed energy to fans old and new, continuing their legacy of musical innovation and live performance excellence.
