Old wineskins, like the Pharisees' rules, are brittle and inflexible. When filled with new wine, the skins are likely to break apart. The wine would then spill out and be wasted in old skin. To make wine, grapes were harvested and then, usually, spread out in the sun for a few days to increase their sugar content. Next, they’d be crushed in large stone vats, first with people stomping barefoot on them to press out the juice, followed by more pressing that used a wooden plank weighted with stones. Through the crushing, and the pressing, God is making new wine and WE SHALL LIVE UNDER THE INFLUENCE OF HIM
