Join us for a critical conversation on the intersection of 𝐝𝐫𝐮𝐠 𝐩𝐨𝐥𝐢𝐜𝐲 and 𝐞𝐧𝐯𝐢𝐫𝐨𝐧𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐚𝐥 𝐬𝐮𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐢𝐧𝐚𝐛𝐢𝐥𝐢𝐭𝐲 at our upcoming event: "Uncovering the Missing Link: Drug Policy and Climate Justice in the Rainforest." The event will be held at Litteraturhuset, in the hall "Wergeland".
As the world grapples with the escalating climate crisis, emerging research highlights a pivotal yet often overlooked factor in achieving true climate justice — the impact of 𝐝𝐫𝐮𝐠 𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐡𝐢𝐛𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 on 𝐝𝐞𝐟𝐨𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 of our rainforests. 🌳
🎤 We will feature a keynote talk by 𝐍𝐞𝐢𝐥 𝐖𝐨𝐨𝐝𝐬, a former undercover police officer from the U.K., who has become a prominent writer and international activist for drug law reform.
The event will also feature an 𝐞𝐱𝐩𝐞𝐫𝐭 𝐩𝐚𝐧𝐞𝐥 in the fields of environmental science, drug policy reform, and social justice.
Together we will explore how the shadow economy generated by drug prohibition fuels extractivist activities that lead to deforestation and forest degradation. We will delve into how the illegal coca economy not only exacerbates environmental degradation but also undermines 𝐢𝐧𝐝𝐢𝐠𝐞𝐧𝐨𝐮𝐬 𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐦𝐮𝐧𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐞𝐬 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐢𝐫 𝐫𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐭𝐬.
