About this Event

Frances McNamara returns with the second title in her Nutshell M**der Mystery Series, Three-Decker M**der in a Nutshell. This time our sleuth Frances Glessner Lee (based on the real-life “mother of forensic science”) and her colleagues at the North Grove Street morgue are investigating a death in East Boston. Set in late 1919, the mystery takes place in the aftermath of the infamous Boston Police Strike.

At this in-person event, Frances will discuss her new book, writing historical fiction, and the research behind the Nutshell M**der Mystery Series. We will also be joined by Joanne Riley of UMass Boston’s Joseph P. Healey Library and a director of the 1919 Police Strike Project, which seeks to preserve the life stories of the strikers. Frances and Joanne will chat with us about the fun and challenges of local history and their experiences telling the stories of Bostonians touched by the strike.

Enjoy a conversation with Frances and Joanne, plus pick up your signed copy of Frances’ new book. Attendees also have the option to briefly tour the museum before the program to get in the 1919 spirit.
