Unconference: Consumption Reconsidered
Date: 19/09/25
Location: 2 Royal Ave
Join Belfast School of Art for an informal discussion on embedding sustainability in art and design education. With no set agenda, and no confirmed speakers, this event hopes to explore education for sustainable development by allowing participants to have their say in shaping the curriculum.Building on the momentum of Belfast School of Art’s 175 event; Radical Pedagogies in Education for Sustainable Development, an Unconference in September 2025 will further explore Responsible Consumption in an Art and Design context. With no set agenda in the spirit of an unconference, a rough goal to develop an Education for Sustainable Development (ESD) Framework for Belfast School of Art at Ulster University will guide participants in discussion. The participant-driven event will allow the public, students and academics to co-design the BSoA curriculum and consider broader iterations in other disciplines across UU and beyond. An unconference is a meeting where participants work together to solve problems, share knowledge, and build community. Unconferences are more interactive and inclusive than traditional conferences.
