Welcome to the third annual Unconference: An EdTech Thought Exchange! This is an interactive, community-driven, knowledge-sharing event for EdTech students, alumni, and other community members. This event is unique in that it is organized by alumni and students of NYU’s Educational Communication and Technology program. The event is centered around you and is a place to participate in deep discussions, explore new ideas, be inspired, share your thinking, and engage with a community of others doing great work.
Who can participate?
Any EdTech enthusiast is welcome. The event is open to NYU ECT students, alumni, newly admitted students, and members of the educational technology community.
Where is the event?
The Unconference will happen in-person on the 2nd and 5th Floors of 370 Jay Street, Brooklyn, NY, 11201. There will also be a hybrid participation option with associated programming.
How do I register?
Please sign up for Participant (In-Person) to register and be part of communications for attending in-person including dietary restrictions or preferences.
If you can’t make the event in person, you can also join us virtually for select sessions (eg. opening keynote, closing keynote, select sessions). Please sign up for Participant (Remote) to register and be part of communications for attending virtually including Zoom or streaming links.
Registration is required to attend, virtually or in-person. There is also a cap on the number of in-person attendees we can accommodate. You will also receive a confirmation form before the event that must be completed in order to attend.
Is there a theme?
This is no formal "theme" for this year's event, but we invite programming driven by the word "CoNNECT": That is connecting education with technology, connecting academics with industry, connecting ideas with practice, connecting with one another.
Topics of previous Unconferences include:
- Artificial Intelligence, ChatGPT, Generative AI
- Immersive Technologies
- Educational Policy & Ethics
- Data & Learning Analytics
- Multimedia Use in Educational Contexts
- Practical Applications of EdTech
How do the sessions work?
Sessions are flexible and will be structured around a theme, topic, question, area of research, or something else depending on the preference of the facilitator. You can read about each facilitator, their background, and their topic of interest once the schedule is finalized. We invite you to check out any sessions that interest you!
If you'd like to get a sense of what was done last year, you can check out the agendas and description of our previous Unconferences in 2022 and 2023. (Click "view details" to see more information on that page.)
Will food or refreshments be provided?
A light breakfast, coffee, and lunch will be offered for free at the event. Further communication will be sent to in-person attendees closer to the event regarding dietary restrictions and preferences.
Interested in being a facilitator / presenter?
If you are interested in participating as a presenter, please submit to share with the event organizers what the format and topic of your session might look like. Regardless of whether you present, we hope that you attend and participate in the conversation!
Thank you for being a part of this year's Unconference!
