✍️✍️ South Africa-based DJ and producer Uncle Waffles became a trailblazer of the amapiano genre, which mixes elements of deep house, jazz, vocals, and percussion. She taught herself how to DJ during the pandemic and her status within the amapiano scene skyrocketed after a clip of her performing went viral. Her debut EP, Red Dragon, arrived in 2022.
Since making her debut in 2020, she became the first ever amapiano artist to play on Coachella 2023 and became the first amapiano artist on the cover of Forbes.
