The remains of 38 individuals whose bodies were not claimed will be laid to rest during an unclaimed burial ceremony at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, October 8, at St. Joseph’s Cemetery, 100 N. Espina St., Las Cruces. The public is invited to attend.All individuals included in the ceremony were cremated, with their remains held by the Doña Ana County Health & Human Services Department for at least two years, as required by state law. During this time, no one came forward to claim them.
Doña Ana County provides for the cremation and burial of unclaimed individuals who pass away within the county, ensuring they are laid to rest with dignity. Remains may still be claimed by family or friends until Tuesday, October 7.
