A behaviour chain is a sequence of events that create a pattern.
(horse paws, asked to back up and then receives a treat. Horse learns the pattern instead of undoing the pawing)
We know that when our horse reacts to things, it can become extremely dangerous. (even life threatening)
Now imagine if your horse reacts to something and you also panic or fuel the fire by becoming angry, or impatient! We already know that it is not effective but then what do we do? When? How do we know?
How about if our horse is demonstrating a lesser, unsafe behaviour and we coddle them, thereby encouraging the behaviour. How do we know and what do we do now?
