Join Tulipan Foundation at the Bohemian National Hall on Saturday, April 12, 2025 from 12—3 pm for a spring event co-presented with the Czech Center New York, celebrating Hungarian and Czech traditions. This year, artists will demonstrate traditional egg decorating techniques, offering a hands-on opportunity for participants. This family-friendly event is made possible by Tulipán Foundation, allowing guests to participate at no cost.Due to the ongoing egg shortage, this year’s workshops will use high-quality wooden eggs, allowing participants to take home a lasting keepsake. To honor the tradition while supporting the community, the Tulipán Foundation has partnered with City Harvest to donate the equivalent cost of 1,000 eggs to help address food insecurity in New York City.
The event will feature Ildikó Fekete, an award-winning egg decorator and Tulipán grantee, teaching the wax-resist technique. Ilona Szelesné Kása will introduce an eco-friendly dyeing method using plant-based ingredients, and Emőke Benkovics will demonstrate the drop pull technique for geometric and floral designs. A display of decorated eggs will illustrate these methods.
Guests can also enjoy fresh challah and Hungarian specialties, and younger attendees can participate in a goodie bag hunt.
