About this Event

ABOUT THE EVENT - THIS EVENT WILL BE IN FRENCH

The Alliance Française de Washington is pleased to welcome Wilfried Zeisler, curator at the Hillwood Museum, for his book, Les Youssoupoff: Un siècle de collections françaises.

Everyone has heard of Felix Yusupov, the man who organized and participated in the assassination of Rasputin just before the Russian Revolution. He found refuge in France when the Bolsheviks took power. Like many Russian aristocrats, the Yusupovs spoke French and were fascinated by France and French style. The Yusupov family, descendants of the Golden Horde, who became allies of the Tsars, developed a particular affinity for the world of art. As wealthy patrons, they acquired pieces and works of art, including a château in France, starting in the 18th century. Wilfried Zeisler's research sheds new light on this family, their important and exceptional collection, and their ties to France.

Light refreshments will be served after the presentation and book signing.
