About This Event
Join us for UMOJA, a gathering designed to strengthen unity among Black, Indigenous, and People of Color (BIPOC) farmers in Oregon. Rooted in the first principle of Kwanzaa—Umoja (Unity)—this event is an opportunity to connect, collaborate, and build collective power in agriculture.
At this free event, you’ll enjoy incredible food, meaningful conversations, and invaluable resources to support your farming journey.
What to Expect
🍽️ Eat – Enjoy a delicious meal from Akadi PDX, a renowned West African restaurant in Portland.
🤝 Gather – Engage in small group discussions to foster relationships and explore ways to support each other. We’ll collect insights on:

Learn what a land trust really is, how to join our community, and discover alternative pathways to land access and ownership.
🔹 Shantae Johnson, Executive Director of Feed’em Freedom Foundation, will share how farmers can get involved as contract growers for their Black Food Hub Program, providing produce, greens, and more to support Black communities.
🔹 Resource Hub – Learn about funding and support for farmers, with representatives from:
