razstava
do 3. 5. 2025
V seriji del Ali imajo mesta široka ramena? umetnica Lana Požlep raziskuje sodobne simbole metropol in preobrazbo urbanih središč v kontekstu globalizacije, gentrifikacije ter turistifikacije.
Požlep gradbene materiale združuje s fotografijo in ustvarja prostorske instalacije.

ARTIST PER MONTH: Lana Požlep: Do Cities Have Broad Shoulders?
exhibition
until 3. 5. 2025
In the series Do Cities Have Broad Shoulders? artist Lana Požlep explores contemporary symbols of metropolises and the transformation of urban centres in the context of globalisation, gentrification, and touristification. Once spaces of dynamism, spontaneous interaction, and the fluidity of public space, metropolises are now turning into backdrops of constant construction and tourist homogenisation. Streets that were once rich in local character are flooded with crowds of visitors, while strict city centres are becoming increasingly unsuitable for quality living.
Lana Požlep (2000) is an interdisciplinary artist working in photography, sculpture, and installation. Her practice explores themes of transformation and urban spaces, drawing inspiration from architectural practices, non-places, ruins, the concept of support, and personal memory. Požlep combines construction materials with photography to create spatial installations. By recontextualising objects and environments, she examines the interplay of materiality, history, place, and meaning. Her works have been exhibited at the Photon and P74 galleries, as well as the Center for Contemporary Arts Celje, among others. For the past two years, Požlep has also been part of an artistic duo with Hana Podvršič. Their work has been exhibited at the Modern Gallery. Additionally, in 2024, Požlep, along with her classmates, received the Prešeren Student Award for the project Tarpaulin 4.
