Join us for a free, five-week ukulele course for beginners. The course runs on Thursdays, from April 24- 22 May.All course materials will be provided and we can even lend you a ukulele for the duration of the course (£5 deposit) if you don't have one yet.
The ukulele is one of the easiest instruments to learn to play. It is also one of the most fun instruments on the planet, drawing people together to enjoy themselves, make friends and sing songs. On this friendly and inclusive course, you will learn the basics of ukulele playing and group performance.
By the end of the course you will be able to:
- demonstrate how to hold a ukulele correctly
- learn at least three basic chords and strum in time to a beat, including 4/4 time and 3/4 time
- perform at least three chord sequences in time to a beat
- strum along to simple songs in a range of styles, including pop, folk, rock & roll and reggae
- play three or more strumming patterns
- describe how playing a musical instrument can improve your mental health
