About this Event
Join WE Bike NYC for a Ukrainian Heritage Bike Ride!
This special ride will take us through key landmarks of Ukrainian New York, including long-standing Ukrainian businesses and community and cultural places in the East Village — historically known as “Little Ukraine.” Discover the rich history and vibrant present of the Ukrainian diaspora in New York City.
The ride starts on the Upper East Side, and then we’ll head down 2nd Avenue to visit several locations in the East Village. Total ride distance is about 5 miles.
This year’s ride will conclude with a special visit to The Ukrainian Museum, which is celebrating its 50th anniversary. The Museum has generously provided a limited number of complimentary tickets for our group (first arriving riders will get access to this complimentary admission), including a guided tour of the anniversary exhibition, “A Living Canvas: The Ukrainian Museum at 50.”
The exhibition reimagines highlights from the Museum’s permanent collection by bringing together fine art, folk art, and textiles through visual themes such as geometry, color, and line.
Please bring water and your helmet. (Helmets are required.) If you plan to enter the museum, bring a lock as well.
This ride is Citi Bike friendly! If you don’t have your own bike or Citi Bike membership, we can provide a limited number of free Citi Bikes for the ride.
This is an all-gender ride.
We’re excited to welcome new audiences into the Museum space and celebrate the incredible legacy of Ukrainian culture in New York City together.
