ABOUT: Several days before the war started, we were connected with Varvar Brew, a brewery in Kyiv, Ukraine. They were working towards an official verification of the Ukrainian Golden Ale style, which had been in the market since 2009. One way to make this style official was through international collaborations, and thus - we got involved! With Suzie Compton (one of the owners) being from Ukraine, it was an easy yes.
FUNDRAISER:
We're turning the beer release into a fundraiser! We've named the beer Peremoha (which means 'Victory' in Ukrainian). At 1:30pm, Martin Dawson, the brewer from Varvar Brew is going to be back in town and will discuss the style and beer in Ukraine. Following that will be a couple words from Inna Belenky & Igor Smelyansky, Suzie’s parents who recently returned from volunteering in Poland through GDRT (one of the organizations proceeds are going towards. Additionally, Yevgeniy Drobot, the Consulate General of Ukraine in Chicago will also speak.
SILENT AUCTION:
There will be a silent auction going on throughout the day, with items donated by local businesses and community members. The winning bid will be determined that evening and 100% of the proceeds will be donated.

THE BEER:
The Ukrainian Golden Ale is somewhat of a hybrid between a Belgian Golden Strong Ale and an English Strong Ale, but is truly unique to Ukraine. Their brewer was able to make it out to Chicago and brew with us, and our version will feature coriander.
