Volunteer Movement Organization and Leleka Foundation invite everyone to a Q&A with the brave filmmakers that will follow the screening of this powerful documentary film!
The panel features: Lesya Kalynska, Co-Director, Screenwriter, Producer of “A Rising Fury” and TJ Collins, Producer of “A Rising Fury”.
About the film:
A Rising Fury follows a couple of hopeful Ukrainian idealists from the time they met at the peaceful protest in Kyiv in 2013 to the full-scale Russian invasion of Ukraine in 2022. Pavlo and Svitlana fall in love during Maidan Revolution and supported each other during the most difficult times in their lives and in the history of Independent Ukraine. The producers of this documentary filmed the couple over 8 years, they even followed Pavlo to the frontlines in several risky expeditions in order to capture the realities of the war. In this documentary Pavlo contemplates about the events preceding the war and shares about his unique experience interacting with Russian agent trained to recruit boys to join separatist organizations that were forming in the East part of Ukraine during his youth. Because of the invasion Pavlo loses his home and despite the pressure from his pro-Russian friends decided to join the Ukrainian military. Together with Svitlana they find themselves on the battle lines, protecting their kid's future, their motherland's democracy and their country's freedom at the expanse of their fragile and tender relationship.
The Polish Club has graciously donated the space for our event and is collaborating with us. They will be selling Polish food and drinks (tea, soda and more) with proceeds going toward the upkeep of the Polish Club.
