Ukrainian films will be screened in Brussels at the Ukraine on Film festival!This year's screening, which will take place from May 9 to 12, will feature 5 films: from the most resonant contemporary films to restored film classics.
The program includes:
▪️ The Academy Award-winning documentary 20 Days in Mariupol. It was created by members of the Associated Press team, who were the last international journalists in the besieged Mariupol: Mstislav Chernov, Yevhen Malolotka and Vasilisa Stepanenko. For this work, they received the Pulitzer Prize, which is considered the most prestigious award in journalism.
▪️ The documentary Intercepted by Oksana Karpovych. At this year's Berlinale, the film received a special award from the ecumenical jury in the Forum program.
▪️ The documentary We Will Not Fade Away by Alisa Kovalenko, a participant of last year's Berlinale and a Docudays UA festival winner.
▪️ Ukraine on Film will also screen a film that has already been released in Ukraine - La Palisiada, the full-length debut of Philip Sotnychenko. This is the best Ukrainian film of 2023 according to the Kinokolo National Film Critics Award.
A special event will be the screening of the restored film Shadows of Forgotten Ancestors by Sarkis Parajanyan, better known by his changed name Sergei Parajanov.
The festival is organized by the Arthouse Traffic film company, the Association of Ukrainians in Belgium and the Ukrainian Institute.
