About this Event
Attend in person or via Zoom. In this one-hour session, startup counsel at Ignition Law and Seattle startup lawyer, author, and professor Paul Swegle discuss key differences in startup law and fundraising between the U.K. and the U.S., what startups from either side of the pond might find in moving from one side to the other, and the pros and cons of scaling up in one market or the other, or possibly in both simultaneously.
Located in the heart of London, the lawyers of Ignition Law love being plugged into the city's vibrant start-up community. Ignition Law was a start-up itself in 2015 and continues on its own scale-up journey. Its team knows the road their start-up clients have to travel and how important it is to have clear, pragmatic, relevant advice. And that’s Ignition Law's aim: to simplify entrepreneurs' lives.
Paul A. Swegle is currently general counsel to seven tech companies and has previously been general counsel to a dozen others across varied industries. Paul has helped build and sell companies to Abbott Laboratories, Capital One, ING, and Nortek. In 2020, he helped a proptech through a successful de-SPAC IPO.
Paul Swegle is also an adjunct business law professor and author of two best-selling books used widely in law and business schools: “Startup Law and Fundraising” (https://www.amazon.de/dp/0578236702) and “Contract Drafting and Negotiation” (https://www.amazon.de/dp/0692138307).
