The recent announcement by the UK government regarding changes to Agricultural Property Relief (APR) in the new budget has raised significant concerns within our industry. In response, the Ulster Farmers’ Union (UFU) will be hosting an Overturn the Farm Family Tax Rally on Monday, 18th November 2024, at the Eikon Exhibition Centre, Lisburn, starting at 7:30 pm.
This event is designed to highlight the potential impact of the proposed Family Farm Tax on our members and provide a platform to engage with both the press and political representatives, giving the Northern Irish agricultural industry the opportunity to lobby their concerns. It will offer the Northern Ireland agricultural community an opportunity to stand together in a show of strength and add your voice to other UK Farming Unions.
At this rally, you will hear from your UFU office bearers on the extensive efforts that the union is undertaking to lobby against these unfair budgetary changes. Representatives from each of the five major political parties have been invited to attend, ensuring that policymakers fully understand the detrimental effects the proposed APR policy could have on our industry. The floor will also be open to members to allow you to speak directly to their elected representatives and express your views. We’ve invited the Secretary of State and other key decision-makers to attend, underscoring the vital importance of this issue for Northern Irish agriculture
The rally is scheduled in the evening to accommodate family members and part-time farmers, ensuring that as many people as possible can participate.
