About this Event
Experience a special reading and conversation with Maria Reva, Ukrainian-born Canadian author of the Booker Prize–longlisted novel Endling. Set in Ukraine during the 2022 Russian invasion, Endling follows eccentric scientist Yeva, her sisters, and a rare snail as they navigate survival, loss, and love amid chaos.
In this event, Reva explores the novel’s themes of resilience, memory, and human connection, showing how storytelling can serve as a powerful form of resistance against erasure. Moderated by Maria Genkin, Razom Board Member, the discussion will illuminate the intersections of war, feminist activism, and environmental awareness within Reva’s darkly comic and deeply moving work.
Attendees will have the opportunity to hear Reva read from her novel, gain insight into her creative process, and engage in conversation about the enduring human capacity to persist even when the world seems set on destruction. This event offers a rare chance to connect with a contemporary literary voice grappling with urgent global and personal questions.
