It's back to school with Greenbelt Alliance on this leisurely walk through the campus of California's first university!Our route around UC Berkeley includes a mix of historic and modern architecture including some fascinating building interiors. We'll also view natural areas of the campus, including Strawberry Creek and specimen trees. The walk includes an optional ascent up Sather Tower (the Campanile) for great views!

This is an easy to moderate walk of 3 miles, with about 225 feet in elevation change (not including the elevator and some steps in the tower).

The walk is free. The Campanile elevator costs $4-5 but accepts only credit cards or Apple Pay, no cash.
Where to Meet
We'll assemble at the southwest corner of Center and Shattuck in downtown Berkeley, next to the main BART exit. If you drive, you may be able to find street parking but pay attention to the posted restrictions and time limits. Downtown parking garages are another option: Berkeley parking garages
You may also park at a BART station such as Ashby or North Berkeley where parking is free on weekends and pay to take BART to downtown Berkeley.
