Type Design workshop with Reiner Erich Scheichelbauer19–21 September 2025
Dates and location
19 –21 September 2025. The workshop and a public presentation will take place in Ljubljana, at Museum of Contemporary Art Metelkova.

Programme
19 September, 18.00
Public presentation: What we always misunderstood about ligatures, Helvetica, and the Bauhaus, and why we should finally leave them behind. And then, some fun and games.
20 and 21 September
Workshop from 10h–18h with lunch break.

Mentor
Rainer Erich Scheichelbauer was born in Vienna, and studied photography, philosophy and Dutch. Today, he creates and produces typefaces, teaches type design, gives type design workshops, translates Dutch books on typography into German, and writes articles and Python scripts. Rainer joined the Glyphs team in 2012, and has been writing tutorials and the handbook. In 2014, he started the Viennese font foundry Schriftlabor, which collaborated with New York design agency Mucca for creating the Sephora typeface system.
Participants
Usual crew consist of graphic design/typography/architecture students and sometimes other people interested in designing typefaces. We expect some basic experience with typography or higher interest. Prior knowledge of type design and Glyphs app is required, experienced type designers also welcome.
Workshop fee
The workshop fee is 200 €.
In case of cancellation we keep 50% as administrative costs.
The workshop fee includes Tipo Brda society membership, snacks and materials during the workshop.
Tools needed
Mac OSx laptop with latest Glyphs app 3 installed. The workshop organisers will provide other stationery along with already mentioned extra tools.

The registration fee must be paid within 2 days of the confirmation email. Candidates are officially enrolled into the workshop only after payment. In case of cancellation, 50% of your fee will be refunded.
