A present and involved farther figure role play a crucial part in the healthy development of a child. This project aims to celebrate present and involved fathers, strengthen the bond between the Tyma ne Ncosi, and learn parental tips. Tyma’s are any male playing a caregiver role in the child’s life being a biological father, step-father, grandfather, uncles, brother or a neighbour. Ncosi refers to a girl or boy child. The project targets Tymas ne Ncosi of ages between 04-16 years.
The project will take place through a planned series of active outdoor learning activities model called Adventure Based Learning (ABL).
All ABL activities will be facilitated by either a social worker, occupational therapist or a psychologist followed by entertainment activities such as colour-hiking, inflatable structures (e.g. jumping castles) and a fun competition between Tyma ne Ncosi on African indigenous games. A Tyma to Tyma health and wellness talk will take place to discuss and share tips on the theme being a present and involved Tyma.
