I wanted to share what my cousin Tyler has been going through and why we’re rallying around him right now.What started as a routine visit to the ENT for what they thought was just a mucosal cyst turned into something no one expected: Cancer. During surgery, doctors discovered it was Squamous Sinonasal Carcinoma, a rare and aggressive form.
On his birthday, Tyler underwent an 11-hour surgery to remove his entire sinus cavity and part of the brain lining. The very next day, he had a second 7-hour surgery to reconstruct his sinuses. The tumor was considered Stage 4, but thankfully it has now been removed. He still has to go through 6 weeks of radiation and 6 rounds of
chemo.
During Tyler’s second surgery, the 7-hour reconstructive one, doctors had to remove skin from his thigh and graft it onto his forehead to help rebuild the area where his sinuses were removed. Just imagine the strength it takes to go through something like that..not just physically, but emotionally too.
He’s been so brave, even in the face of pain and uncertainty. The healing process is long, and it hasn’t been easy, but he’s facing it all with so much grace. Seeing him fight through this with a steady heart is both heartbreaking and inspiring. He truly deserves all the love and support we can give.
It’s overwhelming for him but we’re hopeful. And through all of this, Tyler has been handling everything with an unbelievable amount of strength and grace. He’s one of the most supportive, kind, and loving people I know. I consider him more of a brother than a cousin.
He shouldn’t have to worry about money on top of all this. He’s unable to work and is quickly depleting his life savings just to keep up with medical bills, insurance, and basic living costs.
So, we’re throwing a fundraiser to help lift that weight. And if you know our family, you know it’s going to be a good time: full of love, laughter, and support.
