Two Nova Scotians. One Route. A Century and a Quarter Apart Pedalling Through History: From Bible Hill to the Boer War – Louise Trotter (A Two-Part Series)
Louise Trotter shares the remarkable journey of Karl Creelman, a 21-year-old Nova Scotian who set out from Bible Hill in 1899 to become the first Canadian to cycle around the world. 125 years later, after significant research, Louise has followed Karls’s trail sharing the stories in a weekly series called the Karl Chronicles.
In this talk, Louise brings to life the landscapes, challenges, and unexpected encounters of Karls first year on the road—and her own parallel expedition documenting their twin journeys from Truro to Vancouver and across the Pacific to Australia.
Louise Trotter is a photographer and travel writer based in Halifax, Nova Scotia. Through her camera she seeks to blend what she sees with what she feels, creating artistic vignettes that reflect her curiosity and passion for preserving awe-inspiring moments.
Part two of Louise’s talk will happen on Tuesday, November 25.
As part of our Tuesday community nights at the museum, we offer free admission from 5 pm – 8 pm. We also encourage donations to Feed Nova Scotia to help curb food insecurity in Halifax, together!
