JAPANESE BOOK STRUCTURES
This workshop is taught using complete traditional methods.

ORIHON
Orihon, historic precursor to modern books, is made with an accordion-folded structure, also known as a 'concertina' binding.
SENPUYO
An adhesive binding that results in a structure often known as the butterfly binding.
Suitable for beginners and all experience levels.
Materials costs are included in the workshop fees, courtesy of George Hill & Co.

Registration closes December 23rd, 2024 @ 11:30PM
Participant-requested cancellations will be accepted up to 3 days prior to the published cut-off date for registration and will be subject to a 10% cancellation fee (a minimum of $5). After that, the full fee will be forfeited. In the event of the workshop being cancelled by CBBAG, the workshop fee will be fully refunded.
INSTRUCTOR BIOGRAPHY :
Stuart Hill has studied bookbinding under the guidance of Betsy Palmer Eldridge, Don Taylor, Dan Mezza, Karin Scheper, Rose Newlove along with many others. With a background in engineering and architecture, his keen interest is in the discovery of book structures...with a focus on how they are built and why certain techniques were used. Stuart is also the owner of the Canadian bookbinding supply company, George Hill & Co.
