Spend two days in the beautiful Devon countryside learning how to work with this sustainable material.
In this workshop you will be taken through a step by step process to your own 4ft willow deer to take home with you.
This Willow Deer is constructed from the inside out, using a steel armature at its core. We build the structure of the deers skeleton first and observe it's muscles and anatomy to create a realistic form as opposed to a craft deer. So your sculpture will be almost solid - not hollow. Because these structures are not hollow they will last much longer as outer layers protect the internal structure from the elements.
The steel armature will allow you to fix your deer securely into the ground in your garden - this also means that the willow has limited contact with the soil to prevent is breaking down.
I also give all my participants detailed information on how to treat their deer to make them last longer.
I work with small class numbers so I can ensure I have adequate time with each person to help them develop their skill level and learn to understand the nature of willow as a medium and manipulate it effectively.
Lunch and refreshments are provided on both days, please let us know if you have any dietary requirements.
