Objectives:

This workshop is ideal for IT professionals, cybersecurity analysts, network administrators, and compliance officers who are responsible for managing security risks within their organization. No prior vulnerability management experience is required, though a foundational understanding of IT systems and cybersecurity principles is beneficial.
Presenter Bio:
Mari Galloway, a best-selling author and cyber professional, is the CEO and a founding board member for the Women's Society of Cyberjutsu (WSC), one of the fastest growing 501(c)3 non-profit cybersecurity communities dedicated to bringing more women and girls to cyber. WSC provides its members with the resources and support required to enter and advance as cybersecurity professionals.
Mari began her career with Accenture, where she excelled as a Network Engineer. Mari is also a 2023 Presidential Lifetime Award winner and the inaugural ISC2 Diversity Award winner for 2019. With over 15 years in IT and Cyber, her experience spans network design and security architecture, risk assessments, vulnerability management, incident response, and policy development across government and commercial industries.
She holds various technical and management certifications (CISSP, GIAC, CCNA, etc.), a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Information Systems from Columbus State University, and a Master of Science in Information Systems from Strayer University.
Mari is currently a Las Vegas resident and CEO of a Cybersecurity Consulting company.
She regularly contributes content to security blogs and training companies nationwide and is an Adjunct Professor for UMGC and Linkedin Learning Instructor. She also lends her time to various organizations as an award judge, mentor, and advisor. Outside of being a geek, Mari enjoys travel, arts, puzzles, and lego!

December 9th, 12-4pm EST
Day 1:
Introduction (30 minutes)
- Overview: Introduction to the workshop objectives, structure, and core concepts of vulnerability management.
Foundations of Vulnerability Management (1.5 hours)
- Key Topics: Explore different types of vulnerabilities, the Common Vulnerability Scoring System (CVSS), and methods for prioritizing vulnerabilities based on risk.
Vulnerability Management Lifecycle (2 hours)
- Phases: A detailed look at each phase of the vulnerability management lifecycle—Identify, Evaluate, Remediate, and Report—enhanced with real-world case studies to bring each step to life.
December 10th- 12- 4pm EST
Day 2:
Tools & Techniques (1 hour)
- Tools Overview: A review of popular vulnerability scanning and remediation tools, including Nessus, Qualys, and more, to help participants choose the right tools for their specific needs.
Hands-on Practice Labs (2 hours)
- Practical Application: Engage in guided labs that simulate real-world scenarios. Participants will practice scanning, analyzing, and remediating vulnerabilities in a safe, controlled environment.
Threat Intelligence & Attack Surface Management (1 hour)
- Intelligence Integration: Learn how to incorporate threat intelligence to enhance vulnerability prioritization and manage the organization’s external attack surface effectively.
Reporting & Metrics (30 minutes)
- Stakeholder Communication: Understand how to create clear, actionable reports and key performance indicators (KPIs) for communicating vulnerability management outcomes to stakeholders.
Conclusion & Q&A (30 minutes)
- Recap and Discussion: Wrap up the workshop with a summary of key takeaways, a final discussion, and an open Q&A session for any remaining questions.
