Create your own stained glass with expert tuition in the historic art of glass paintingThe art of painting on glass was mastered in the medieval period. Over the following centuries, stained glass artists have used painting techniques to draw with line and light, to create depth and detail, and to control the atmospheric quality of light’s transmission through glass.
During your workshop you will be looking at the classical portraits and faces taken from our gallery at the Stained Glass Museum to recreate your own version to take home. You can also bring your own portrait designs if you wish.
You will be using a mixed variety of techniques and brushes to create your final pieces. A selection of tinted coloured glass will be available to use and the chance to explore using a variety of mediums to paint with as well as applying silver stain to your work. Each piece of glass will be fired several times over the length of the workshop ready for you to take home.
The workshop will have a maximum of six students, allowing for ample individual as well as group tuition.
