The fictional cabin in "North Woods," this year's One Read book, has centuries of stories to tell. Columbia's oldest surviving building, the Gordon log cabin, also has seen true tales worthy of a novel. Join the Boone County History and Culture Center in the Village of Boone Junction at Nifong Park to hear riveting tales of Columbia's early log cabins. Hear stories of survival, war, peace, justice and injustice that span from the very beginning of the City of Columbia to the cabin's journey from Stephens Lake Park and its restoration with real period artifacts like a spinning wheel, cookware, a rope bed, candle molds and a fireplace made from limestone from our own Hinkson Creek.Meet at the main museum building. The group will then walk together to the Gordon log cabin.
